So this last weekend I begun the project to rebuild my dads truck that he left me before his passing. The bummer part is what knowledge he had on the truck he took with him to the grave that would have been really helpful this passed weekend. From what I was told by my grandparents is the flywheel needs to be replaced. We begun by removing the driveshaft but of course the bolts were stripped, after some time we were finally able to get them all lose. Next we got the floor jack to support the transmission we were able to start unbolting it from the block we noticed there was a couple of bolts missing from the bell housing. With not enough room to work with I made the decision to drop the tranny and then we were able to replace the flywheel. I noticed the torque converter was wobbly too and was advised not to re attach the the flywheel to it. Another problem that happened is that engine tilted and the distributor cap broke so I wasn't able to get the truck started. I currently live 3 hours away from my grandparents where its parked at and I'm not sure when I will be able to work on it again, but i do know is that I'm going to start from the bottom up this time. It's going to be a long process but I'm fully confident that i can get it done within the next few years.
