Hello--New Member on board. I am the 2nd owner of a 1989 Blazer--350 with auto trans--140,000 original miles. Body and interior in excellent shape--no dents, rust, factory paint ( black ) is in very good shape. Interior, ( burgundy) is in pretty good shape--dash not faded or cracked, however the seats need to be reupholstered and the carpet replaced. I orginally bought the truck in 2003 and drove it for a couple years until I garaged it to " trick it out ". ( Lift kit, cowl induction hood, 12X15 Mickey Thompson Classic II rims, ceramic headers--may possibly integrate custom Hooker Header chrome sidepipes, new paint scheme, and upgraded interior etc. ) Original plan was to pull the engine and trans and replace with BB454 and 4-speed and customize from there. Have decided to keep original motor --just rebuild and upgrade. Jury still out on the 4-speed !

Replaced rear axles in 2004, ( previous owner towed a LARGE boat to the coast regularly which I think contributed to the axle issue ). Current problem is that the gears in the rear differential went out. Pulled the cover and looks like a mess ! Am considering replacing with a 12-bolt--maybe DANA series.

Has anyone done the changeover from auto to 4-speed--how involved and expensive ? Also---the truck will be used for weekend rides, shows, etc. so I want to keep a decent ratio in the rear. Welcome comments and suggestions !!! Thanks
