86 blazer W/ 454 project rebuild
So my i stumbled across this project. It belongs to my buddy kyle. But i cant help but get my hands dirty.
1986 Blazer
454 Big block
350 auto trans.W/ B&M quick shift
lifted W/ 39.5`s
leaked oil and was over heating... decided to pull the motor due to rear main, heads, and misc other things leaking oil. As well as the truck was seeing temps of 250+ on the water gauge...
Plans are to at a min to do all new gaskets, find the sorce of the over heating, and do an over all clean up of everything at a min.
not bad for a runner, all said and done got it clear for 2,000.
found the possible sorce of the over heating????
i found this INSIDE the radiator.... stuff is everywhere in the water passages, and probly the whole radiator. it almost looks like a mouse made a house in the cooling system out of a couch or something..... CRAZY:haha:
from start to finish it was about 3 hours 30 minutes to remove the engine, not bad for my first time.... SO simple.
I have the intake manifold off, and am doing some more research as to what book i should get to let me know all of the torque specs of all the stuff in the engine befor i start taking it apart further.
this is my First red blooded American project, beside my uncles 55 F100 that i did when i was a kid.
It is so cool that i can walk in to baxters and have a list of 25 differant things and they have it all in stock.... kinda weird. lol.
