Alright guys im stuck in a pretty big pickle at the moment with not much time on my hands to try and sort it out. So my P/S head is starting to leak, and i know some of you are going to say just replace it and what not, however this is not the case. The motor has 159,000 miles on it and it is my ONLY vehicle currently, i looked at a refurbished motor and it was 2200 , so i have looked at doing a LT1 swap or a 5.3 Vortec swap. I need help deciding which route is going to be the easiest/cheapest route but still has longevity and less time consuming. I know at the minimum i need a V8 swap kit for a 4X4, Motor, harness and PCM but what else do I need and roughly how long will it take me if i do it alone.

I think the cheapest route would be to get a used 4.3 and throw that in if you don't want to fix the leaking head.

I would have done that but if im swapping in a motor i would need to rebuild it and make it reliable.

It seems like you wanted to do a reinterpretation of concept behind the GMC Typhoon. More expensive than a V8 swap, but forced induction is worth looking at as it makes the engine less sensitive to altitude variations.

Well nothing turned out the way I wanted it to, so now im replacing the head gasket, spyder injector and talking with Comp Cams and TCI for parts. So far I got a converter priced out for a little over 400 and a cam for 309.
