99 Jimmy 4 door 4x4 SLT
Hi, everyone. I'm new to the forum, as a member. I've used the site many times for ideas and as a reference. I've owned a Blazer/Jimmy for 10 of the last 11 years.
We bought a 2001 Blazer ZR2 in '03 and owned it until someone pulled out in front of me in September of 2012. I was sad to see it go, but that's life sometimes.
Flash forward to August of 2013 and I found a '99 Jimmy 4x4 4 door. It had almost 150,000 miles at that time, but ran and drove great. The exterior was in pretty good shape, although it could use a fresh coat of paint. The frame and front/rear end has some surface rust, but is still in pretty decent shape. There is some rust starting to form on the bottom of the lift gate, also.
The first thing I did was use a headlight restoration kit, as the headlights were looking a bit cloudy. The difference is pretty dramatic. I'll post some pics later.
I really haven't done many mods to speak of to this point. I've installed a vacuum gauge and have been recently spraying bed liner coating on the frame and wheel wells. I need to also paint the roof rack.
I plan to do many more things like a cold air kit, new wheels and tires, a more aggressive stance, a suspension lift, and several others.
This is my daily driver, so I have to maintain drivability, but I would like it to be more capable for poor weather conditions, or if we go fishing or camping, etc.
I have a pretty good vision for what I want right now, but I'm always looking for good ideas, so feel free to offer any I may not have thought of.
Thanks!

Heya bigpeet I have a tip for the headlight restoration. I wet sanded mine with 1500 sandpaper (use a LIGHT touch and keep it wet) then polishing compound with the buffball, then the Meguiars polish. Also did the tail lights too. The results were well worth the extra time and effort.

Great tip, thanks! You're not too far from me. I'm in Springfield.

Forgot to mention my Sony CD/Bluetooth stereo. Replaced the factory stereo last fall. It was a tape deck, which obviously wasn't going to cut it. Bluetooth added a bit of safety with the hands free operation, as well.

Nice attention to detail on the small things.
