Blaz's 05 blazer

I ran the body lift and 31's for a while. a suspension lift will give you more belly clearance than a body lift. I would have done the RC lift first if it was an option at the time. No suspension changes are required for a body lift but the rear bumper brackets will be changed. The choice is yours, both are good options.

That looks better. For mine I was thinking of cutting up higher and coming straight out the side

Wow! This thread is an inspiration, man. Very good job on your blazer.. definitely can tell you have put in lots of dedication and a lot of money haha. I just installed the RC 2.5" on my 96 Blazer and it came out quite nice. I am now considering a 2" body lift similar to what you have.. your Blazer is kind of my goal, minus the beast bumper. Any feedback you could give me, or tips, would be much appreciated. Again, great looking rig, keep up the work, friend!

Sorry I took so long to reply, work has been crazy.
Body lift on my blazer wasn't too bad because it was only 3 or 4 years old at the time. Rusty bolts will be the biggest issue I would think. Lots of lube, and use an in out progression on the bolts. Tighten it, loosen it, lube it, tighten it, loosen it, lube it, tighten it, repeat.
As for the RC lift, check your passenger side tire/wheel doesn't bind at full droop. This isn't really an issue on dirt trails or on the street. Though, off road I think it was contributing to my breaking front drive shafts.

I have been running an Eaton E locker for about two years. This past summer I noticed that it wasn't locking properly.
THIS LOCKER DISENGAGES IF YOU CHANGE FROM FORWARD TO REVERSE RESULTING IN LOCKING UNDER POWER! The locking pins have a tendency to wear out under this condition. I am not saying bad things, I am only giving info from personal experience.
Pics are worth a thousand words, so here goes.
I (with help) installed the Yukon Grizzly Locker today. Reviews will follow.

Where did you find the spec sheet for setting lash/preload? I've never (correctly) done ring/pinion or carrier swaps myself.
In high school I had helped a friend swap a r-p in his camaro, neither of us had a clue what we were doing and it ended up destroying the entire rear end, housing and all after about 2000 miles. Im a gun shy about doing it myself now, lol. What i tend to do now is replace the entire rear end with a good used unit rather than mess with splitting the carrier.
All the race cars I used to work on ran ford 9" rear ends and we had a sponsor that set them up for us. When I get around to upgrading differentials I'm gonna have to suck it up though. LOL

Carrier swap isn't a big deal. If you are changing gears then it takes a lot of set up. The info is all on line. Just make sure you double check the info.
