I hadn't thought about the accessories, but using the 3 button TC with the front diff on a manual lock out would work pretty well.. That way you would still have all the systems intact for the operation of the vehicle. I'm assuming your going to take out the back seats and make some kind of platform for the batteries? Are these a sealed type battery? Because you run the risk of a hydrogen explosion if you have the old style vented type battery. And I wouldn't want all those batteries right behind me in the passenger compartment.

I just read though your entire worklog on your truck and it was great! I would love to have a project like that, but it seems like there is a lot to learn. Was that your first electric vehicle? How did you get into them?

Yeah, essentially I just need to convert the Blazer to be front wheel drive.
All the high voltage/current electrical systems will be in the back.

I will be using 45 thundersky 160 Amp-Hour lithium-ion batteries:
http://www.thunder-sky.com/pdf/200871782241.pdf
All wired in series, 144 volt nominal system voltage.

All the batteries, both motor controllers and the battery charger, should all fit in the rear cargo area, no need to remove the back seats. And everything should fit below the roll out cover. The battery box will be forced air vented to the outside.

Each motor controller can draw a max of 240 Amps, 160 Amps continuous.

Which provides an extra 80 Horse Power at the wheels, except that the electric motors have 100% avalible torque at 0 RPM. My electric truck can out accelerate a stock S-10.

Expected range should be around 70 miles city, 50 miles highway.

Yup, it is my first electric vehicle.

When I was in college we built a battle bot for "Comedy Central's battle bots" (it was the thing to do back then), we built it in the electric vehicle lab... In the lab they had an electric S-10, that they where doing some research on, they also had a formula lighting electric race car, some electric forklifts, etc...

One day I got to drive it around, and thaught it was coolest thing ever, I remember thinking "I want one".

A fully working one was out of my price range... so when a non-working one came up on ebay, I baught it.

I have since also fixed another one, and some other parts for them:

If you want to see a blown up motor contoller:

I eventually did get it working.

Default NP236 Transfer Case

The weather was nice today, so I was able to crawl under the Blazer and take a pic, to see what kind of transfer case I have:

http://www.wolftronix.com/blazer_hybrid/IMG_7318.JPG

It looks to be a NP236 Transfercase.

I will be taking it out soon and opening it up.

Then I am going to figure out a way to lock the coupler.

Either a few bolts thru it (if there is room for the nut and bold heads), or cutting the input and output splines and welding in a steel spacer block.

that's what i was gonna suggest. but coming to the party late, it looks like you came around to the same idea.

i read through all of your build blog on the white EV-10, and i've gotta say, that sre was an interesting choice for your first all electric vehicle.

it looks like we might need to start a new section, since we now have two "alternate fueled" Blazer's on the go now. (ebachrville is the other).

looking forward to reading your updates.
