So, good news and bad news. Good news is that I got the axles sand blasted and they are looking pretty. Bad new is, that the rims are in worse shape than expected. After blasting away the rust on a few spots, there are pits that go through the rim. It's a shame. Those rims, I guess, are hard to find. I'm thinking I'm going to go to Tractor Supply and get a set of rims and tires and just be done with it.

I got the air filter in the mail today for the motor. The old one was almost black. It was nasty. It should be running much smoother now. I should be getting the clutch tomorrow, Saturday at the latest. I'm off tomorrow, so I'm going to get started with getting the throttle cable connected. I need to make a bracket so it'll work right. I'll post pics when I get it done.

Out for now.

Well, I got the clutch yesterday. I didn't have time to post pics or an update because my 10 year high school reunion was last night. I did get the clutch installed, so that's at least done. I also got the motor bolted down, and the throttle cable linked up. Unfortunately, the throttle cable seems like it needs to be replaced. It takes a lot of effort to pull back the throttle.

I work til 1:30pm today, so I'll get some pics taken and post them ASAP. Later.

Waiting to see the pics. I skipped my HS reunion - I figured that if I wanted to know all those people, then I would have stayed friends with them, and besides, i was a bully so the people there were probably hoping I wouldnt show up.

Well, just like I promised. I got some pics for you guys. The axles turned out great. Amazing even. They look brand new. I just need to get them cleaned and painted and they are done. Here is the rear axle:

Here's the front axle:

The wheels turned out to look like total garbage like I said. They need to be replaced, but I don't want to spend the money. I may just have to bite the bullet on this one:

Wiped off the motor to make it look clean:

And here's a little video for your viewing pleasure:

nice work there Chris. i'm impressed by your restoration skills. So, here is the real question, when you finish the rebuild, do you install your shackles next?

good to know, i'll be lowering by next years gtg ( i know we'll have one). honestly, you should make a trailer hitch mount for this. simple bracket that you set the bike down into and basically bungee the top down.

Actually, what I'm going to do, is keep some tools with me and take the handlebars off and put them on when I get there. It'll be much easier to transport. I'm also going to move my spare tire so I can get more room.
