its too bad you couldnt hack your radio, i was checking you build pics and saw you have the tape deck in the head unit, mine has the cd in head unit.
otherwise i would tinker around and see what i could find.
there has to be a way to connect to the wires coming off the tape head itself...(proper terms)

this part circled.

i know that i was going to originally tap that part in my stock unit till i followed the wires.
you would still need a blank/dummy tape to activate the player though

Hmm, that`s an idea. I may have a look at this when i`m bored...

The problem on my unit is, that there are only two wire connectors, and all the wires only have two different colors. So there`s no chance to figure out the correct ones. But tap direct into the tape head could work...

Finally got some time to work on the car.

First i replaced my cb:

Hmm, there`s a pic missing. You can guess which?

When my buddy came over to test it with his, it still wouldn`t work. Finally we figured out that both my cb`s are working, but my mic is broken...

Also added two more 12V outlets:

And made a table for the swingout:

Also bought an air tank for my oba:

The rest of the day we worked on my buddies jeep:

Got some heavy duty fabric for free today:

The lens cover on the camera didn`t open all the way, but you get the idea...

I think i`ll make a nice awning out of that...

I like that little dodge. I always thought about getting a little crawler. are they expensive?
