Working nights (2nd shift) all week and next...can be very boring. I find myself with a lot of free time.
Installed new eBay leds in both the parking and turn signal lights. Work great!
As for the HIDs vs LEDs for headlamps ... It's a draw, so far. I feel that I get better visibility with the HIDs, but they take a few seconds to fully brighten. That's what's nice about the LEDs...instantaneous light.
Picked up 'new' bumpers over the last few weeks.
Newer style Blazer front, with the fender flare pieces still attached. (Couldn't find a decent enough Bravada bumper/cover )
Rear is nice...less rusty underneath and no dent, so that's a plus!
Well, spent 8 hours fighting with my fuel tank.
Blazer died while at the salvage yard. Got it towed home (thanks roadside).
Diagnosed it being the fuel pump.
Everything was original under there..old pump, tubing, clamps, straps, everything.
Ended up snapping the front strap bolt off, and of course, they don't carry that part anywhere near me (the small hanger piece that has the bolt connected). Rock Auto for 12 bucks, plus 2 day shipping... Should be here on my bday.
Stopped at 3 auto shops and found a Delphi pump, snap ring, straps, and the right sized tubing for the feed and vapor on the rear.
Got a lot help from my brother... Would still be on my back, underneath the rig, without him.
Everything is hooked up, aside from the front strap bolt (part # 15015589 fuel tank strap), and Johnny started right up.
Would I ever do this again? Possibly, but it would have to be a warmer day. My body definitely is not conditioned for all that laying on cold concrete and cardboard
I know that feeling! I had to do the fuel pump on a sonoma and my blazer, 2 years in a row on the coldest days of the years. I will agree, FURTHEST thing from fun to do. Glad to hear that hes running, hopefully that the bolt strap doesn't cause too much of a head ache. Have you done anything with your flares yet? Warmer weather would definitely help with those too lol
They are presently in a box, in the garage, awaiting a good time to monkey with them.
Definitely a lot of projects for the spring/summer...hopefully more time with the Blazer than the house/deck/garage/yard etc...
Ahh the salvage yard has to be the worst place to break down lol. Glad you got her back up and running though.. I've broken one of those weird strap/bolt hangers too... it was really hard to find one locally and pretty funny to try and describe it to the parts guys at the dealerships
Got the part today ,thanks Rock auto.
Had to drop the tank to get it back in there and managed to snap the plastic return line on the new pump.
Trying to figure out a way to return it so I'm not out 250 bucks..
