Default Long term project. V-8 S-10 Blazer

I'm starting this thread to show the progress of my 87 S-10 Blazer. Currently the Blazer has a 283 and a 700R4, the engine runs well so I wont be in a rush to put in a 350. I plan on my wife driving this as her daily driver because she hates the Astro van. What she doesnt realize is that I'm going to make it uncomfortabel for her so she will want me to buy here a "normal" V-6 stock Blazer.

Phase one will be lowered with ZQ8 springs, spindles and 1.5" lowering blocks. I will keep the 283 and search the aftermarket for a way to control the trans, right now it will not downshift or go into overdrive. A few of the bugs that I need to work out are; Cooling, I'm not sure what kind of radiator I have now but it doesnt cool well. Electrical, I have a short somewhere preventing me from gettting a ful 12 volts. The only rusty area on the truck above the back window. I had a piece cut out of a wrecked Blazer but lost it.

Phase 2. When I take over driving the Blazer I want to use it for dragracing, autocross and LSR at the Maxton Mile. I will swap in a 350 and a manual trans. For suspension I want coilovers on the front and rear with trailing arms (truck arm NASCAR type) and a panhard bar.

I have 2 other trucks and the van, so this will be worked out over time as money allows. Everything I own is modified and constantly evolving.

A few more pics. The engine was installed correctly, I have seen lots of hacking. This one was done right, with no huge dents or cuts to the firewall. The interior is still in decent shape. The dashboard is the roughest part. I have a heater only heaterbox that I will swap in, I do have everything to hook up the A/C which I may do it depends on if I can keep it cool with the planned Corvette radiator. Since the Blazer has no front bumper and I dotn like the rub strips I will be smoothing the bumpers, the only real cosmetic mods in my plans. The bumper in these pics is a test bumper, it was bent before I started and bent worse now.
