I would put the relay after the temp switch. let the relays handle the load and the temp switch can just be there to tell the fans when to turn on. If you check out my build thread I have a wiring diagram in there. That is just how I like to do it since relays are cheap.

SO I figured I'd finally post an update.. Its been a SLOW build & still has a long way to go but.. In the last couple months or so I've gutted the interior & bedlinered the floors & tailgate. I've redid some of the original wiring that the OP fried or spliced a dozen and a half times. I'm in the process of gutting all of the original wiring & running my own harnesses for everything from the engine to the tail lights. The only guages that I've installed so far is a mechanical oil pressure & Mechanical coolant temp gauge to see what was going on with the motor.
so now more pics.

before I painted the dash.

After. So can all so see the bedlined floor here too.

the Original Gauge cluster. None of its hooked up/works so I'm gunna put a custom cluster with the speedo & tach in the location of the original cluster.
A better shot of the floors.

The Fan kill switch for fording.

The rest are just more Flexing pics from a day I got bored lol.

Thats all for now. I'll have more pics soon as they upload.

Hey guys, So I don't know if any one is keeping up with this thread anymore but I figured Id do an update.

So I rewired the engine bay & decided to just rewire to whole truck.

Heres some Pics of where I'm at now.
Parts List so far...
3 Rolls of 14g wire 100ft (red,white,& black)
4 30 amp relays
3 rolls of 10g wire 10ft (2red,1 black)
Glow Plugs
New Marine battery 800CCA (was on sale & I needed a battery)
10ft of 4g wire for battery/alternator/starter/grounds
4 inline fuse holders
83ft on auto electrical covering "The black stuff"
numerous connectors, heat shrink, & eletrical tape.
Attachment 189032

Engine before.
Attachment 189033Attachment 189034

Engine So far.. needs buttoning up & a few more wires ran.
Attachment 189036Attachment 189037

The Original harnesses & switches that were shot or a rats nest.
Attachment 189035

Some of the guages hooked up. I accidentally cut the hard line to my coolant temp sensor so now I have to get a new gauge. So far its been the casualty.
Attachment 189039

Otherwise I only have a couple pics of the engine bay with the new wiring.

Passenger side

Over head

Drivers side

I also built a little center console to go between the shifters to hold my start panel & 2 cup holders. I'll post some pics of that tom.

on another note. I have a alternator with 2 spade terminals on top. does any one know how to hook this up?everything I've read says to either run a jumper from the batt. post to one of the terminals but I've read that this will drain the battery after awhile. I've also read that you can do the same thing with a toggle switch (which is how the last guy had it) and just turn it on & off with the truck. I would prefer for it to just be wired in to come on & shut off with the truck.
Could I just run a jumper from my ignition switch to terminal on the alternator?

Also does any one know how/where the best place to wire an Amperage gauge in to the alternator wire?

That motor isn't gunna do anything with out me knowing as far as I'm concerned. lol

heres my "Custom" switch panel complete with cup holders!! ooooooooo lol

The "New" seats installed.

Mile Marker Hyd. 12000lb winch. I picked up for $50. Just need to convert it over to 12volt from 24v.

My New headache! I was replacing the sending unit in the block for the coolant hardline I accidentally cut. while installing the new brass adapter the sleeve cracked & is now stuck in the block. I didn't have alot of time last night so I just stopped before I made it worst. I'm hoping it'll come out easy.. but we'll see.

Thanks Rider!

SO its been awhile since I updated here so.. here ya go!

So first up is the face lift (paint job) it got over the winter. I still need to finish it up because it got to cold for the paint to stick. Also its all rattle can so I have some spots to touch up.

Before:

After:

The chuck of sq steel off the front is on there because I took my bumper off to weld up the winch mount. Well the PO bolted the bumper on then welded the reciever to the frame & bumper... I don't know why. lol

Here's the bumper back from powdercoat with some new toys.

I need to hang it yet, but It's been to cold. Hopefully it'll be on by the end of april (its a busy month for me.)

I also am almost finished with my wiring (like 80% done). I wired up a dual battery isolator because I am running dual starting batteries that I moved to the back of the truck. I'm running 2 AGM's from autozone I don't remember the brand off hand but I'm pushing 1,800 CCA's. (That outta start it on the coldest days!!) I'm running a starter relay between the two of them to shut off the circuit when the truck is off, so that there is no small drainage. I'm also running a deep cycle marine battery in the from to the truck to use when we go camping. So that I don't drain my main batteries.

I also installed a "Jump switch" between the camper battery & starter batteries so that I can jump start my self.

& Last thing for now. My wife got me a little hulla girl for my b-day this weekend, along with a surprise birthday party.

Watch for more updates now that its warming up!!
