My lil' Devil

Well turns out i did put the clutch in backwards & on top of that broke some seals in the slave. So I flipped the clutch & bought a new slave & now she runs & drives! Gotta exhaust leak I've gotta fix & a vacuum leak. The rpms bounce up to 1500 & back down to idle when ever I hold the clutch in when slowing down but as soon as the truck comes to a stop ( like waiting for a light) it idles just fine. So I'm guessing vacuum leak unless anyone has a better idea.

I agree with it being a vac issue, if that checks out I would suspect a faulty IAC or TPS.

I made a "custom" smog delete plate for the intake & sealed it with rtv & I think it's leaking there. It's gotta nice whistle at the plate so ill be brainstorming on that tonight.
#24
give me some dimensions, I can machine you a perfectly flat plate, if you want.

Ill send ya a pm tonight. I have to wait until in get home to measure it.

well its been alittle bit so I figured I better update the thread. I pulled my EGR delete plate off the intake gobbed it full of jb weld around the edges & let it sit over night & have seemed to fix the vaccum leak... I think the SES light is off but it still drops power slightly around 2000-2200 rpms some time but not always. I thought it was because of an exhaust leak at the bottom of the down pipe because I put a new flex joint in but I got it welded up & it still does it so the mystery continues. Other wise got the new bushings in the doors & a radio in & some cheap wally world speakers for now. & now PICS!
I managed to save my self having to get the ac recharged by leaving it all hooked up.
This is on the "new" motor. I was able to clean it up with a light sanding. I know I should have replaced it but I'm broke & needed the sucker running.
Thats the exhaust manifold off the 3rd cyl. I'm pretty sure the rings are fried. Might rebuild the motor in the future but for now its for parts.
Ready to go in!
the bushings were shot. So I picked some up the next morning before we threw her in.
I thought I had some pics with the motor in but ill have to add some more later

Got the radio installed over the weekend. It was an old kenwood I had in the bravada before I went to a double din.
It has blue tooth & ipod hook up so the ride to work is alittle more enjoyable. Obviously its better on the way home thou. lol
The old speakers.

WOW.. SO Ididnt realize its been so long since I've updated this..
SOOO.. last fall it had an coolant leak.. It was drinking it like it was fuel. one time I was driving home from work & was wondering why my heat wasn't working again. Got home checked the radiator & it was bone dry!!!! apparently they used the same radiator as the 4.3's which is big enough to "air"cool the the engine.. lol
So was worried that my headgasket was blown which is a common problem on the 2.2's. So I dove head first & put all new gaskets in. (head gasket, intake, exhaust, also new water pump, hoses & thermostat.) Drove perfect for about 2 weeks except for that minor power skip randomly thru the rpm band that its all ways had.
Well one day I was driving to work & out of no where THUG THUG THUG!!!!! WTF NOW!!! it sounded like a lawnmower with a cam! lmao. well I gimped it to work. After work I ran over to O'reilys to use a scan tool. It had about half a billion codes thrown so I shot from the hip & replaced the crank sensor that was one of the codes. Well it was to cold to do it there in the parking lot so I ran it over to the local jiffy lube & had them swap it. well that didn't fix it, but the guys there were nice enough to do some testing for me & print me off the all data info & came out to a bad injector. So I stopped by orielys on the way outta town & grabbed an injector & started the 45min trip home.. I had to keep the rpms above 3,000 to get the injector to pop & run "smoothly" ,but if I cleared 4,500 rpm the comp would shut the engine down. So I was double shifting the hell outta that thing on the hills on the way home & made it 5 miles from home.. & silence. I pulled over & cranked it accouple of times & could hear the compression from the exhaust so Im fairly certain that the bottom end is still there.. lol I got towed home & parked it for the winter.
My educated guess is that the fuel pump died. So I'm gunna pull & swap it for an inline pump. I'm pulling the bed off to do the pump & weld in new cab corners now.
I started pulling the bed off last night, Im gunna finish up tonight.

SO as far as the s10 goes, I pulled the drivetrain, & im done w/ the engine rebuild & next is the trans rebuild. in a 6.2 diesel/NV3500 swap. It's going in a 2wd s10 & I'm swapping the rearend for a 8.8 out of a 91 mustang in getting for free. The 8.8 has 3.45 gears as compared to my current stock axles are 4.10.s, Im doing a 2in body lift for eng. clearance & a 2in spring lift w/ 86 irocz front coils for the weight of the 6.2. also going to 31's for the extra clearance.
The To Do List.
remove cab (to ease install)
paint frame
replace the front suspension (tie rods, ball joints, etc.)
shocks
remove extra emissions stuff from the frame
replace rear shackles & bushings
mock up 8.8
rebuild nv3500
mock up drivetrain
most likely mod front K member slightly for oil pan clearance
mount eng. & Trans
replace cab corners & paint cab & fenders
rebuild rear end
get 31's
get a set of ford 15's
exhaust mock up
more.. to come
now pics.
