Got everything cut off and cleaned up on the 14b today. Just waiting on the brake brackets and I can get it put back together.

I know it's more money and all, but have you considered replacing the dif cover with a cast or welded one? I know when I got my 14 the cover was nearly rusted through. And, um...spring perches? Just thinking out loud...carry on.

Yeah I'll replace the cover for sure. I figure I'll get everything built and replace the cover at my first gear oil change after the gear break in period. The cover that's on it is solid enough to get me to then. As for the spring perches I'm good the ones I bought for the 60 have the tabs to grind out and will fit the larger tube of the 14b perfectly. The factory perches were about an inch to wide to fit the blazer

I thought about it but I figured I'd wait cause I want to get this thing built and have a few other things I still need to pay for rather than wrap more money up in steel for a cover and plug right now. I will see how bad it hinders me and may (probably will) come back and do it later.

i dont know how i missed this thread. just a couple concerns. does your truck have rear disc brakes now? even so are you planing on changing the master cylinder at all? youre going to be pushing a bunch more fluid not sure if the stock s10 master will handle it

also do you know if that 14 bolt had single or dual rear wheels. they are different widths so if you have a front axle off a single rear wheel truck and a rear axle off a dual wheel truck they may be way different. if they are mix matched its really not that big of a deal you just have to find the single wheel hubs for the 14 bolt.

ive done the brackets on the back of my k30 for calipers. very simple and easy to do

I have drums but I'll likely upgrade to a fullsize master when I do the swap. I've been reading up on it and it seems pretty straight forward just have to re flair the lines and hookem up! The front brakes on the d44 are fricken huge!!

The 14b is a srw axle so the width is the same as the front but good looking out!

The brakes should be be an easy bolt on swap and I already have everything except the brackets which are in the mail
