Bought a 99 ZR2 for $500!! About a mounth ago a guy at work crashed his ZR2. Rear ended a car hard. It bent the push bar, destroyed the headlights, grill, bumper and bent the hood pretty well. Someone told him the frame was bent because the fender gaps went all out of wack.
So he pretty well gave it away to me for $500.
Heres the build

$500---Truck....full load. [a/c, 6 disk changer, sunroof, power seats,power everything]
$250---Donor front end from burned out Jimmy
$200---New winshield installed
$215---Gallon of black single stage paint with hardner and reducer.
$100---Sandpaper,bondo and other bodyshop supplys.
about 40 hours labour *free* by me.
=$1265 for this.

 

For the investment, it looks damn good!

The paint was Sherin-Williams 2nd dimention single stage enamel.
I wouldnt use single stage on a metallic color but it's fine for a solid color like black.

sher-will RUST :P I hate their paint( but I don't paint automotive)

looks pretty good, especially for the amount you have into it!

you need hooks for the front, or at least lights or mesh to fill the holes(IMO)
Fullsize hooks are much stronger and will fit in stock location if you plan to wheel it.

 

Sherwin paints for the most part are garbage but for a $500 dollar truck I didnt want to spend anymore then this on paint.
Yeah I need to do something with those gapping holes in the bumper...Gonna hit the scrap yard for some hooks.

Used A/C comppresser and evaporator - $60
Used TCCM and Encodermotor - $70

Got a free A/C charge from a friend and the only thing that doesnt work now is the rear winshield wiper. [but i dont care bout that]

So i'm in for about $1400 now.

 

:O no rear wiper, but how are you suppose to get a clear view of your spare when it's raining or have a dirty rear window!!
