Default Cobra 19 Ultra III

Does anyone have any experience with this cb? I'm not looking for anything super nice, just something to have in case I need emergency communication or just want to listen to people on my commute to school.
Here's a link for it: Cobra 19 Ultra III Citizen Band Radio - Walmart.com

CB is a waste of time. There is hardly any traffic on it, and the range is line of sight IF that... There is only 40 channels, and the antennas are huge.

I reccomend VHF. There is tens of thousands of channels, the range is 100 miles, and there is actually other people on it. You can listen to the cops like a scanner, you can get weather channels, and there is always something going on if you scan the frequencies. Also the antenna is much smaller.

True that.... VHF is where it is at, The only time we use CB is when storm chasing and we are in close range with the chasers in our group, we use VHF for when we need to make reports to the police ect while someone else calls it in.

only use i find for having a cb is out at the offroad park to people in your group. i bet if your near or use the highways you can still listen to truck driver traffic.

im actually old enough to remember cb groups on the air. certain areas had a channel they would all meet up on and talk about nothing. kinda like a prehistoric chat room i guess.

but having actually own a cobra 19, they work i guess, nothing really special about them. i think it was one of my first cb's and i later got a cobra 29 which was a little bit better upgrade

Thanks for the input guys. I got it mainly for the cheap price and the PA function.
