Default New Build killed the ZR2

Well saturday the Blazer met its unfortunate death. She rolled three times and then got caught in a tree shes none the less dead. Tomorrow im going out to buy my new temporary truck, I picked up a 2005 gmc jimmy 4x4. the jimmy has kinda high kms but she will do till i get my bearings back together. now my question is that i have a set of 265 75 r16 tires from my zr2 will i be able to get them to fit? or should I swap my zr2 stuff into the new truck? my zr2s frame and all the drive line are mint her roof and body are in less than mint shape? id like to hear some opinions thanks

Ouch, that sucks. Glad you seem to be OK though. I would absolutely swap over anything you can from the ZR-2.

You could do what one of the members on here did, he swapped the front and rear axles from a ZR2 into a non-Z.

^ honestly i would do what Red96' said, then you would have the 373 gears and could run 31's with no change from stock power and rpm's.

The front differential is the same as a non z.

Just switching the axles wouldnt change the clearance issues to fit 31s without lifting it.

If it were me i would just swap the bodies. Then you would still have your zr2 but with a jimmy body. I know thats what i will do when the day comes that i roll mine on the trails. Notice i said "when" it comes not "if" lol

But the gearing might be different, the Jimmy probably has the 3.42's. It might just be easier to swap the front axle in with the 3.73's rather than disassembling both to swap gears.

its not hard at all to fit 31's on a stock truck, thats y i said it would be easier to switch out the axles.... little crank and shackles boom you have enough did it on my 2000 blazer and it never rubbed.
