New to this, I got a 1986 k5 chevy blazer 4x4 and Im getting 12 inch lift, 40si tires
so, im going to get a 12 inch lift and 4x 40inch si tires with 20 inch rims to go with the package, my brother found someone and im going to get a sweet deal for only 600$. Is there anything else that I would need to upgrade for this to work ? i've been told i would have to upgrade the reer end and some other stuff. but how long would it last before it starts to wear and tear ? what else would i need to get. Thanks for everyones Opinion.
You may get away with the stock 1/2 ton axles if this truck is purely street driven and for looks. However... You really need to go to 3/4 or 1 ton axles with at least a 4:56 or 4:88 or 5:13 gear ratio.
Are you getting a complete 12" kit or piecing one together? Don't forget things like longer front brake lines, a steering arm and draglink, swaybar lowering kit, legal headlight height, etc...

i had fullsizes for years with 1/2 ton axles and 38 inch tires. steering is gonna suck. you might have to look into getting hydro assist. yeah 1/2 tons will last if you take it easy. just expect to replace ball joints and bearings about once a year. brakes are decent. i had all new stuff and really had no problem stopping
