Project: Just Another v8 blazer
so i traded my 90 passat wagon for a 85 350 swapped blazer the wednesday night/thanksgiving morning.
here's the story.
passat needed work, the work it needed was expensive and i didnt have money to fix it. i also didnt like the 16v, i just dont like them motors. i decided that a 350 blazer would be fun, i have worked with tons of sbc's so its super easy for me to fix em and build em. also a s10 is called a dime piece for a reason, there everywhere, parts are cheap and easy to find....unlike the wagon.
well long story short, i almost didnt trade cause the blazer over heated in the dudes driveway, the fans werent working. he let it cool off and put coolant in it and took me for a ride. didnt over heat and it ran and drove with no problem. i took the trade and i pulled out of his nieghborhood and the alternator died. my buddy brian brough me an alternator from his house (half hour away) and we changed it and drove back.
the blazer does have some issues and has some issues. i plan on sorting it out and fixing it up a bit. my main project this winter though is to start working on my truck.

ok so here's what i have done so far.
Thursday (thanksgiving):
Changed the Alternator
Fixed the new radio in it that didn't work
I hooked the fans up
Cleaned alot of it up
Friday:
Hoodpins (factory hood pop and latch was all sorts of F*cked up)
Painted the trim peices around the headlight black
Set the timing (distributor was off a couple teeth)
Re routed the plug wires
Re did the throttle cable and spring
Put a air filter on it (didnt have one when i got it)
STICKERS!!!! i love stickers lol i put some i got for free on it
Saturday:
Painted the the leaf springs and rear end black, if you drove behind the blazer, you could see the surface rusted rear end and leaf springs
put a centercounsel in it
new steering wheel i got for free from a 3rd gen maro (factory was to big and the blazer isnt a tilt wheel so i could barely fit)
fixed some non working lights.
Thanksgiving day
headlight trims pieces

Looks good, nice start so far. Definitely seems like you've got a good starting point to have a nice truck. Are you planning on just doing mostly maintenance and driving it, or do you have some other plans?
#6
