New grille badge, Headlights, taillights and led bulbs!
I found this AMI Styling grille badge on Mercari for $20 so I had to get it. It matched the aesthetic of the blazer, so I decided to mount it on this blazer instead of my s10 build. I had to drill a few holes in the grille, and double sided tape and bolt it in there but it looks really good in my opinion. I also bought some smoked headlights and taillights off of Amazon, I searched high and low for ones with decent reviews but it seems in general the aftermarket design is somewhat poor. Since I went with Smoked housings. I opted for Sealight LED bulbs all around so that I could still be seen. I can't remember if I posted it already or not but I also mounted my American Racing 18inch Riddler rims on the truck. These were from another blazer that I recently parted out. She is starting to look really good at this point. AMI Styling badge powdercoated satin black The new badge in its home. New headlights with LED bulbs New Smoked taillights.
I can't stand leaving things alone... And the stock hood was pretty burnt, so I went on facebook marketplace and found a color matched hood from a Sonoma partout in my area. Drive an hour for it, but well worth it. It also needs paint work, but its a nicer style compared to the bland Chevy hood. Old, faded stock hood. It looks like at one point it was strapped across the hood on a trailer and the strap burnt a line across the hood. The Sonoma hood has better paint in some areas, but it also has what looks like slits in the paint and its starting to lift... I'm debating if I should wet send it, or just send it and do a poppys patina coating. Whats the worst that could happen? The paint looks bad? It already looks bad haha!
Driver door needed door pins, I went with Endurapin pins and rollers. I used a engine hoist to hold the door up. I still managed to chip the paint on the door, oh well. Should have used more rags. Engine hoist hack. Makes doing this job solo, a breeze... Old pins. Old pins and roller. Replaced upper pin, roller and door spring from a parts truck in my barn. Lower door pin. 3 coats of self etching primer, 3 coats of paint, and 2 coats of enamel clear coat for a nice final finish. Open the door a dozen times and the roller is clean. Added some white lithium grease and she is good to go. Lower pin also painted.
Well the Junkyard gods were smiling upon me this past week... I was able to score a set of Belltech drop hubs from the Go-Pull-It yard in Jacksonville, FL. Paid $60 out the door, which is great compared to the $350-400 retail. gonna scuff them up and throw a coat of black paint on them. Very excited for this! I also scored a set of paint matched power mirrors, and a few pieces of misc trim, like cup holders etc... That I was missing.
Installed the speakers from Rockville. These are there in-house brand. I bought them because they have a fairly high RMS output and I wanted a system that sounded nice. In Hindsight, I probably should have spent a little more cash. They are not bad speakers by any means, but my expectations were a bit higher if i am honest. 4x6 in the dash, 6.5 in the doors and 6x9 in the mid section. I ran them all to a 5 channel amp in the rear with a 10 inch pre built sub box. I used a really nice JVC single din radio that I have used in the past with good success. This shows the RCA cable routing attached to the factory wire loom protector. I do have a little bit of feedback through the speakers, but not much. I would still do it this way again, for the sake of cleanliness and ease of install. This is something that i have done with all of my S10/Blazers that I have owned in the past. Full top end rebuild. Fuel filter was nasty. Top end was cleaned as expected. Previous owner recently did the headgaskets, and a full valve service, It looks really clean inside the motor. Pressure washed and degreased the valve covers, and intake manifold. New alternator, valve cover gaskets, and metal fel-pro intake manifold gaskets. New harmonic balancer. The old one came off in 2 separate pieces. New style fuel injector. This one is Standard ignition brand. I also replaced the distributor cap, rotor, wires and NGK plugs. Upper plenum installed, water pump, new thermostat housing. Final stages... Brand new cooling system, charging system, ignition and fuel system. She runs like a top now.
Driver side rear wheel seal was leaking diff fluid everywhere. The rotor was covered in fluid, and slung all over the wheel well. Dropped the pan/fluid, pulled the axles and replaced everything with high quality Timken bearings and wheel seals. 3:42 gears Timken Wheel bearings and seals, The axle shafts were nice and smooth. So this was a clean and easy install. Slapped the old brakes back on for the time being. New diff seal with RTV on one side of the gasket, as well as on the bolts. Really wanted to buy a different cover, but it wasn't in the budget at the time.
