so Im working on my newly aquired 86 K5 blazer and I have run into my first question! yay!
Btw, Im sure there will be more to come... heh.

Anyway, The truck used to be in the hands of the Appleton Fire Department. and now its mine to make road worthy again.

The first Thing I started fixing on the truck was the holes on the roof of the truck. They were the mount holes for the emergency lights and strobes. I welded shut all six of em, and plan on bondo, primer sand repeat and paint. but the welding is done so thats cool. Oh yeah for those of you who havent tried welding anything on their blazer, its kinda a pain in the ***. even for an 86 blazer, there isnt a whole lot of metal which makes burn through quite easy to do.

The hard part (which I have yet to finish) is the front window seal area. There are two drain holes on both corners of the sealand then a few various rust holes here and there. the biggest of the rust holes is dead center of the seal. Its about the size of a quarter, Im sure Im gonna have a blast with welding that one, no pun intended.

heres my question.I think the window hasdrain holes for the water trapped under the seal to escape. When I was welding around the drain hole, the metal burned through and I was forced to fill the drain hole inwith fresh weld... Ive ground the area flat with a disc grinder and was wondering If I should re-tap the drain hole or leave it flat and flush.

Also, because the metal is so thin, I had to weld it very cold and sparatically. After grinding you can tell that the weld is basically just a clustering of very cool burns. should I come back in with some jb-weld and smooth it out. Im thinking that would be sufficiant to keep from rusting again.

Appreciate the Feedback... will post some pictures as soon as I can if needed.
