OKAY. New battery, fresh gas, sprayed starter fluid into the carburetor, the motor started for a second or two and then died. I'll do it again and record it on video so you can see/hear it.

Do a fuel pressure and leakdown test on it and post the results. If its starting with fuel in the TB it is most certainly a fuel delivery issue. The procedure and specs can be found all over the forum

Definate fuel delivery problem. Take your time do a fuel system pressure test and go from there. People here will walk you through the process

Thanks so much, guys! A few minutes after I posted the video I had talked to a friend of a friend who is a mech and he walked me through a fuel pressure check and we found out that yes, indeed, it is the fuel pump that is the issue. Hopefully get that sucker fixed on Friday. With any luck, the next you'll hear from me is a video going VROOM VROOM

yeah, he's gonna charge me 20$ an hour which is real good. hopefully get a discount on the fuel pump, too. I have a question though: I went down there today and dropped the spare tire and lubed up some of the fasteners that will have to be taken off and noticed the fuel tank itself has surface rust. Should I hit it with some of this stuff before I put it back up in the truck?

when you replace your pump, make sure to replace your fuel filter so the new unit doesnt struggle, but just to be sure, replace the filter FIRST! If the old $10 filter is just clogged, you don't want to waste your time with a $250 pump.
