I was talking to a friend of mine who is a head mech on a tugboat somewhere in the Caribbean and he told me about this stuff called Ospho that they use on marine craft that works really well. I'm going to give it a shot and hopefully that will cure the tank of the rust on the inside. I figure once all the rust is gone on the inside of the tank, if properly maintained (kept above half a tank) it shouldn't make any new rust.

I really hoping junkyards in my area have these things; I have a few more obscure parts that are shot (battery tray, there's a harness that's rusted out that holds this funny little box that I don't know what it does behind the bumper and under where you pump your gas into the tank [maybe one of you guys know what it is], need the top half of the center console [the part that flips open], AND probably other things that I'm not going to worry about right now) and all the yards in this area are super commercialized. I'll report back when I get the Ospho in the mail and assemble my tank back together.

TODAY IS THE DAY. I've been waiting for a day off from work; I had to do 10 straight and then yesterday the weather laid an egg and it was rainy/overcast all day. Nothing but sunshine today though; I'll report back either way once I get the tank back in the truck.

Bad news, no dice. The new pump never turned on. So either I ****ed up splicing the wires OR there is an electrical problem. Halp.

going to order a new fuse i think. the entire line from the fuse box to the end plug where I'd plug in the fuel pump is dead according to my little electrical light tester. that sound about right?

Try to use a jumper to bypass it and see if that works.

UPDATE: By some miracle i finagled with the wires enough and I got the new Delphi pump to work. I check under the hood and the fuel pressure is good; that's the good news. The bad news is that the stupid ****ing thing still won't start. My neighbor thinks it may be the distributor cap since the motor has fuel but apparently not enough power. Thoughts?
