so i pulled a shaft out of my friends 96 Cherokee Classic(boxy xj style) and its a NACAM, measured it up next to the one i got on Ebay and theyre the same length. it needs to be cleaned up and soaked in wd40. it was a PITA to get out... but its out!

tomorrow im goin to take the shaft apart. i used a parts cleaner at work and its been soaking in penetrating oil the past 2 days. i hope its easy to get apart after that, its pretty rusted. wish me luck lol

i got it to be able to collapse in and out but couldnt get it apart. so we sprayed some good machine lube down inside it and its smooth coming in and out. i sanded off the rust and put a fresh coat of paint on it and its all ready to be put in... now just to find the time -_-

finally got some decent weather to put the jeep shaft on... what a pita that was, had to use a vice and pinch the end that goes on the box close a lil bit cuz it wasnt tightening enough but its on and tight, minus breaking a sensor when taking out the old one, it went pretty decently. keeping my fingers crossed as i drive it more.
also with putting it on and driving the 2 miles i have since doing so, it has changed my steering quite a bit in a great way.

hey i have a question for anyone else who has done this... how did you get it to clear the knock sensor? mine broke the connector to it because of clearance, if i move it up more the column part out of the firewall looks like itll be past the bottom of the shaft coupler. any suggestions? i was goin to cut maybe an inch or inch and a half off the steering column part and extend the shaft a lil more.

60 degrees or v8s so I had room or didn't have a knock sensor, sorry no help from me.
