Smittybilt Winch Mount Bumper & XRC-8 Installed
So I bought an XRC-8 winch a few months back and finally got around to putting it on. I was planning on going with the hidden winch mount where all you would see is the roller fairlead mounted where the license plate is and the winch hidden up under the bumper.
It rained last week for the first time since i dont know when so I took the Jimmy muddin for the first time since I bought it 3 years ago. Until just recently my truck wasnt set up for off roading. Anyways, was having a blast until...
I hit a small ditch going a lil too fast and crunched the running lights and license plate frame. Not a lot of damage but a lesson learned, If I had installed the winch as planned it would have been the fairlead and possibly the winch that would have taken the hit.
When I got home I searched CL and found this bumper for $170.
It took some doing, cutting with the torch and butchering up my grill but I GOT 'ER DONE!!!
I sold the old brush guard for $100 on CL so the upgrade only cost me a whopping $70.

That bumper looks sweet. Originally thought it looked too high but I like the look of it. Also good job on making the mounts looks dam straight.

Thanks... I looked at mounting it lower like how it was mounted on the jeep but it would have placed the winch considerably lower and would have required a bit more fabrication. To my surprise the bumper actually mounts to the factory bumper mounts and split the headlights right down the middle as though it was made for this truck. I had to notch out two places on the bumper to make it fit but I didnt have to cut the frame or bumper mounts on the truck itself.

Thinking abut doing this to my Blazer. I know this is an old post but is there a way you could post pics with where you had to cut the bumper. And also how far back into the grille does the bumper sit without the winch. Really digging what you've done with your Jimmy/blazer!!
