So I bougt this Blazer as a parts car for an 2,8 v6 camaro but after a inspection it seemed to be better than I thought. It's not rust that screams for attention. Even the most recent safety and environmental inspection was without major errors and problems. This inspection is gåning to be called besiktning from now on.
Me and a frend vent go look att it and getting the car home was an exciting story in itself.
I had to start by trying to assess the condition of the car in the light of a flashlight and assess whether it would be possible to drive it home.
On site, I need to mount a connection to the battery. Then they were incredibly difficult to start, but it started up in the end.
Then I could drive it maybe 2 km before it died. I was out of fuel in the tank and I didn't have a spare can of petrol with me. But after calling a few different people, a person came over with a can of petrol, but when we tried to fill it, it spilled out onto the ground.
It turned out that someone had cut the hose that was the filler tube and emptied the car of petrol.
So we towed the car to a friend's acquaintance where we left it overnight to try again the next day.
The next day we filled fuel right into the tank with a long hose and filled the radiator with water. After spinning the starter motor for a while, the car started and the journey home began.
The gearbox turned out to only have first and second gear. The seller had said it would have the third gear too. So it went home slowly but it went all the way.
So now we are were I is trying to do the minimum to gett it through besiktinngen.
the fuel filler pipe has rusted at some point and was replaced with hoses for glycol which were later cut. this is when I ran out of fuel I have asked about self leveling rear suspension in another thread and this is the compressor that was in the car. Someone has tried to "fix" the radiator The car in daylight. The window is broken and it is parkt at a frends place.
So it have sort of hapend stuff with this car.
So I bought a radiator from a junkyard, it was from a 96 year model. It did not fit but a got a cople of goodies to the car att least like a aftermarket radio holder and a slightli bruken wind deflektor for the hood.
The next part in this is to fix the old radiator becouse it whas a 3 cm long crack that somone tried ti fix with some sort of chemical metal but it did not hold.
So my fix started with a good cleaning and after that I melted the crack with a soldering iron and then a melted in a part of a ziptie to the crack and then coverd it with 2K epoxy.
I have not tested it for real yet.
And putting the radiator back in the car was another fun thing.
I started the work with changing a after market headlight realy thing that makes the cars elektical system ony work as low power and the relay thing kan take like 100w lights.
But in the midle of that i found some weard wires that did not go to enything and some to extra high beams that has been taken of the car so that might stop gremlins to occure.
Al the fittings on the radiator got together with ease exept the lower one for the steering oil cooler, it will not under any circumstances go together corectly so I might need to clean the threds.
Yesterday I took a look at the servo pipe that did´nt want to go in and after som filing on som broken threds it went in rigth and it seem to hold tight when I ran the engine for 5 secunds So I need to run it hot for real ones to.
The fan cover does not fit and I don´t now what I hade done wrong there but I´m leaving it for now.
the next broken part is the induction hose, it is torn were it mates upp to the trottle body so I "fixed" it whit glue, liquid gasket and electrikal tape. It will work for now.

There was a recall that came out in the US that changed the DRL lights from the Hi-beams to the Low-beams (IIRC). Supposedly the DRLs were too bright. I never had it done, nor seen a Blazer yet that had it done, but the recall would have the dealer install a wiring harness to make this change. I don't remember what year range this recall was for. But if that after-market headlight harness looks like it was installed professionally, I wonder if that wiring harness is the recall harness?

The old harness was not professionaly installed but it is a common thing to install if the vehcle has got the lights changed from seald beam to H4.
In some amercan cars it it a must it the light control button should survive.
It´s time to uppdate here again.
I have tested the radiator and it started leaking quite fast and the ziptie din´t stick to the radiator. A leak
So then I did some googleing and found a way to do it better!
So ones again I melted the radiator togheter but this time I reenforced it whit a aluminium net before covering it whit epoxy.
And this time it worked! But the water pump started leaking when the pressure started to build
So now I need to fix that and some bad bearings in the idleer pully and tensioner so that is the next tasks in hand.
