Tired ole 2.8 rebuild thread
Yep, its about time the 2.8 in my blazer is going to need a rebuild. She is severely under-powered and is knocking on a regular basis.
The top-end is good, but I'm gonna need a crank kit with matching bearings. While the engine is out, I will inspect the other components and put a high volume oil pump in her. I know this may be a repetitive question, but from you guys and girls on here that may have rebuilt, or "built" a 2.8, are there any good performance items that would be worth the money? i.e Cam, TB, coil? I know its pretty much the same motor used in the Camaro of similar years, and I have been through a few 2.8s, but just looking for any good advice!
Thanks, john

I'd think very seriously of putting a 350 in there rather rebuilding an already underpowere engine.

2.8
If i were you I would go with the 4.3 it is well worth the effort. The 4.3 literally is a 350 that lost two cylinders (43.5ci per). and has a lot of good performance parts while, the 2.8 is a full blooded economy engine for the day, and only has a hand full of performance parts including cams, four-barrel intakes and one set of almost decent hedders. Ether way don't expect to break 200HP. But if you love the 2.8 the number one thing you can do is install a K&N air filter. Hope it helps. E-1065 - K&N Replacement Filters, Replacement Air Filter
