agreed. I think this is a great innovation that a lot of viewers will be interested in. There will always be a better or more effective fix for any problem...you just have to pick the best option for your budget, skill, etc.

Its also pretty comical that you would tell me that I need to quit driving on the road when I have trucks that are dedicated to off road use only. But whatever.

B) Longer Shackles (while good and cheap) don't give you a new suspension, so if your leafs are trashed like mine they are pointless.

C) Your coilover setup on a pickup truck is going to be completely different because your bed in usually empty where as in SUV's you always have a large amount of weight on the rear.

D) Buying leafs from a junkyard is a bad idea, who knows what issues they have. If the vehicle has been in an accident (which 99% of all cars in a junk yard have been), I guarantee the majority of those leafs are torqued or bent. On top of that New Leafs are hella expensive and not worth buying in my opinion.(unless you have a real reason for paying that extra $$$)

E) Thousands of people have done this with their 4Runners and Toyota Pickup trucks and swear by it. Go to google and type in Toyota Zuk Mod. You will get more forum talk and documentation than you could read in a lifetime.
A. I didnt say anything about an 'add a leaf' .

B. Longer shackels are a bad idea. Also didnt say anything about that either.

C. You dont have coil overs. Coil overs refer to a shock with coils around it. Theyve been around since dirt. What you have are coils for a coil over. Big difference. A nitrogen charged coilover isnt meant to be ran with leaf springs (unless you have the ones that are the size of a regular automotive shock) , they are meant to be the sole spring in 3 and 4 link suspenion applications.

D. Thats why you walk the yard and pick the springs out that are in good shape. Not all vehicles are wrecked in the rear (so your figure of 'the majority' is incorrect). You can look at a leaf spring and tell whether or not its tweeked.

E. Thousands of people put curb feelers on their cars, that didnt make it a good idea.

All that being said, I will say again that Im not bashing you or your truck. All Im saying is there are cheaper and more effective ways of obtaining lift (which is why you say you did this).

Lift wasn't his only reason for doing this...

you're looking @ $260 for ZR2 leafs. both sides.

included a re-arch of 2" or so (to match a t-bar crank). that was me dropping off the truck, and picking it up when it was done & level.

With this mod you have no need to replace the leafs. This mod basically reinforces your existing springs whether they are trashed or brand new. Also, there is no need to put in shackles. If you have shackles you can still do this mod but you have to incorporate the extra length you already have.

Also, I have not done it yet because I haven't had time, but I have been doing some research about shocks. I am just going to use rancho rs5000 set up for stock height. They have 10" of play and I think I would be satisfied with that. Plus they have deals on Ranchos all the time unlike bilsteins and other performance shocks. Right now you can get all 4 shocks for $160 and they are also recommended more than pro comps or any other brand of shocks

I had shocks from rough country that were 2" longer than stock for my blazer but they already stopped working so I have the stock bilsteins back on and the front shocks are maxed... I think a full size shock would work or maybe a zr2

My rear air shocks are rear shocks from a 88-98 4x4 gm fullsize truck, They are about 3 inches longer than my stock shocks.
And as for the front I still have the factory legnth ones.

And I highly recommend bilstine shocks!
