I've been looking for a while now too lol. I'm torn between the Nikon D90 and the D3100 as of right now though.

The 3100 is cheaper which is a huge plus.
I'm deciding between a 3100 and a Canon Rebel XS-something. I forget lol.

I've been looking at the Rebel line, but from what I've heard and read, Nikon lenses are still much nicer. Being a novice in DSLRs I guess I don't really know, but that's just what I've found.

i think Nikons are just better built than a Canon, but the Canons seem to take a little more abuse. as for picture quality, they both have their ups and downs, the T2i is sometimes compared to Full Frame cameras because its over 18mp.

i started with canon because i got a good deal on my first one, then it just came that all my stuff is canon so im stayin on this side of the fence for now.

the BEST cameras *IMO are Pentax. OMFG those things rock my socks! the settings go far beyond anything you would need and even at like ISO 32000 they take good clear pictures! but get ready to empty your pockets for a good one.

one day if anyone is bored i have an online set of pictures (over 3000) you could brows through and see the evolution of my skills, cameras and taste in photography.

i started with an XTi, then got the T1i, then the T2i now. :P my favorite lens is my 10-22mm Canon, and it cost me more than my camera body did, but the funny thing is my next favorite lens is a 50mm f/1.8, from canon, for just over $100 (canadian)

from $1000 to a $100 lens for my two favs! dont get me wrong though, i love the kit lens, and my Sigma 70-300mm is pretty sweet too. but the angles the 10mm give me are just awesome!

I have a Sigma 10-20 and love it, (cheaper alternative to the 10-22, does the job) and I love my nifty fifty

i was looking at the sigma when i bought my canon, they sales guy was pretty pushy about that sigma saying the warranty is longer... for me its about lens speed and the canon took the cake. i forked out an extra $300 (the sigma was on sale) and bought the canon.

which 50mm do you have? i bought the cheapo f/1.8 and am just loving it, ive actually bought two now because the girl that bought my first camera wanted it, so i sold it for like $100 and bought a new one (with lens caps) for $120. haha

Yeah, I don't see a reason to pay so much for the f/1.2, I have the cheap plastic f/1.8 and bang for the buck, I don't regret it whatsoever.

And not much point in keeping this thread around.
