So.. I was looking for chrome dress up kits for the prospective blazer, but to no avail have I found what I am looking for.. I have never really detailed a car, but looking at clean engine compartments makes me think that much more of a car, but besides clean... chrome... or flat black looks amazing....

so two questions

How do you detail your engine compartment....

What are tips for "dressing it up" in chrome or just making it look nicer

 

A clean engine is a nice engine. No need to cover it up in guadi hose covers or anything. Chrome is not meant to go on a daily driver, unless you will be constantly cleaning it.

I use degreaser and a brush to clean the engine bay and armorall on all the plastics.

 

I keep reading about you guys using Armor All on plastic parts. I kind of cringe each time I read it. I grew up in the desert in SoCal, 120-130 degree summers. My dad found that Armor All products will make whatever you use it on dry out and crack quicker over time, especially in hot temperatures. A bunch of his hot rod friends said the same thing, so I've never used Armor All. Apparently Son-Of-A-Gun (spelling?) works best if you want to avoid that problem.

I agree about the chrome. You don't need it unless its a show car/ truck, but then again its up to you and what you like in the end.
