The best way would be to remove them and paint them. I used spray on bedliner on mine but that's because I have bedliner all over my truck already. For yours I would spend a little extra and have shop paint them body color to give it that little extra touch! If that's not in the budget then some nice gloss black from a rattle can will give nice results as well

There's that product out there called whipe new. Works pretty decently (IMO) almost seems like a clear nail polish or something, and it stinks until it dries! If u use it I really recommend using in a well vented area. My garage smelled for a week or so. And DO NOT let it get on paint or windows. But like I said in my opinion it works
