The 2.8 in my '87 S10 Blazer runs great. It's only got 75,000 miles on it and I have no problems with it. The only major issue I'm having is lack of power.

A buddy at work that does mechanic work on the side just built a 350 for a customer, but it's got a tiny wrist pin knock, so he's gonna build the guy another one. This one has been bored .20 over and has a hydraulic cam in it. He said he'd let me get it for $500.

Would it be more trouble than it's worth to drop the 350 into this thing? He said it would be tight but that the 350 would fit. I'm not sure what the conversion would involve, that's why I'm here.

I know that some of you are mechanics and know more about this than I do. Your opinions are greatly appreciated.

your first issue will be mounting..both trans and motor...the second will be the fact that your new drivetrain will be ALOT heavier...keep that in mind with your suspension setup..

go to www.summitracing.com and find advanced adapters. they make all the parts you need to do the swap.

Appreciate the tips. I'm thinking that given my future modifications, the 2.8 may be better suited for the S-Dime. Patrick was right about the weight thing, my drivetrain would be a lot heavier.

Plus, how much power do I really need to throw sparks at 20 mph?

Hopefully she'll be bagged within the next month, we'll have to see how it goes.
