Default Air Intake

Hey, i have a quick question! If i was to put a new air intake on my 97 blazer, would it hurt it any way and/or hurt my gas mileage.

The problem is that it has to be a CAI (cold air intake), not just a new tube with a cone filter in the engine bay. A *true* CAI will be isolated from the hot engine bay heat (air sucked through the hot radiator) and will draw in outside (ambient) air. Hotter air is never better, no matter how much easier it is to get into the motor.

I did a quick synopsis of the restrictions in the air intake system a while back - Click the link below:

I linked directly to the post in that thread with the hard information in it, but there is more information before and after that post that is beneficial as well.

Oh ok, so what would a new cold air intake do for my car. Better gas mileage, better horsepower?

CAI's will give you a little more HP....and gas mileage but the swart said....you need to have a true CAI

I had a thought. No one mentioned the fact the HOT exhaust in the EGR pipe that goes into the intake manifold will cancel any "cold air" that enters past the throttle body.

It's part of our emission sysytem.
I forgot to mention the PCV that enters the manifold too. I would like to believe the air in there is hot and oily.

so hot air goes into the intake manifold and there is no way to stop it?
