Default RE: Air Intake

Yes, the EGR gasses are hot as well as the PCV gasses (but not to the same extent as the EGR). Compared to the amount of air entering the motor, the temperature of these sources is pretty insignificant. Couple that with the fact that the EGR valve is closed at WOT (wide open throttle), and you will have pretty much NO power loss attributed to the EGR system when you're rammin' around.

I never meantioned the EGR valve/gasses because of the fact above. The PCM shuts the EGR valve during WOT (or anything over a TPS reading of 70% or 3.3v reading). The PCV is only active when there is positive pressure in the crankcase and as soon as that pressure is released, it closes down again. Will it allow warmer than ambient air/gasses into the intake system. Simple answer, Yes. Will you be able to notice it...? No. If you were really concerned about that, you could take the filler neck off the passenger side valve cover and get a breather filter for on it. Then your PCV system shouldn't really ever open up (unless your PCV valve was bad).
