You can put in "any" SMALL BLOCK CHEVY engine depending on how you want to use it after the swap I would recomend the 383 stroker!!!

You can put pretty much any GM Small block V8 under the hood... except for maybe ones that are made for FWD vehicles.
Hmmm, would nto be so sure of that....we got a guy on S-SeriesForum.com working on a eco tech (sp?) swap on his 2.2l dime...

Also i would think about a D.O.D. motor....

With enough time and money, you could put pretty much any engine in there... but SBC's are by far, the easiest...

And yeah, I'm waiting until the price of active fuel management engines comes down before I make the swap...

The LS series of engines IS a small block... It's the replacement for the 350 block, it's got different mounts, though...

A Duramax might be a little overkill in a Blazer... but a Cummins 4BT would work pretty well!

The biggest challenge with an LS based engine over say the 5.7L SCFI Vortec is the wiring & engine management. The 5.7L Vortec motor can be dropped in and with minimal wiring changes and a PCM flash to the v8 firmware, you're in business.
