I get better with mid-grade also. That and a 180* t-stat and not taking the engine above certains RPMs (2500 in first, 2250 in 2nd, and keep it under 2k in 3rd) has netted me an average of 16.3 MPG.

while not really on topic (sorry) it is YOUR thread so how do you figure it's not consitutional to have a federal law regarding emissions controls? just because something didn't exist when a peice of paper was drafted, doesn't mean it cant have a law come up later....
aviation laws are another good example, while they may not be constitutional in that they were enacted post-con and there may be a hazy way of interrpreting the con to favor NO new laws! that's why there are ammendments... even so, nothing in any of those say new laws cannot be created as technology progresses.

so i leave you with this as a summary of my response to your above comment:

Wha... ?

yeah my milage has increased (by about .5 mph, maybe a bit less) jumping to mid-grade also. maybe i should baby her a bit more and get the extra 2 mpgs i just waste driving like a jerk

No matter who's thread it is, before this gets out of hand and takes the thread in the direction of 'The Lounge', let's not get into a discussion of Constitutional law in this thread, okay guys?

However, it is against the constitution to make a law stating that you must have one, where it will be and what make and model the catalytic converter will be.

Hmm…you lost me here. I think I know the direction that you were heading to but it’s a long shot. It’s not about the Constitution it’s about the EPA, tree huggers, and politics vs engineering. Now if you are trying to tie the Constitution into the existence of some of those groups no dice. However! The way that these groups influence policy and push politics over engineering and science (which such a statement would start another debate) then possibly such methods if proven could then be deemed unconstitutional and thereby illegal.

Also what riddle said wasn’t meant to be personal.

I’m not sure where he was going I think he just wants to avoid the debate. I hope this helps, remember it’s hard to think objectively when your mind is filled with emotion just like you walk away from a project that pisses you off and return after cooling down the same method applies to most everything else.

Currently I'm averaging 18 mpg in town. Haven't noticed a difference between running 85 octane vs 90 octane at least not so far.

Alright, with respect for the admin's wishes, I'm putting this to bed. If you want to discuss it further, PM me and I'll explain it to you... I warn you, I am correct. *coughs* 10th *coughs*

All that aside...

Let's keep adding to the list.

Here's the promised shot of better than 20 fuel econ in the Blazer:
Look at the top right -- this was taken as soon as I parked after 22 miles on 70 west (going 65-70 with the cruise) and a few miles on 15 (50-55 with the cruise). It was in the low 23's while I was on the highway, but I didn't have a point and shoot and really didn't want to die that day so I waited until I parked.

Exactly. In proper condition and the right gearing these trucks (2WD anyway) will get 23-25 on the highway. Mine does it routinely driving 60-65mph. If I use the freeways more than city streets I can average 19-20 overall. It's all in the variables.

don't mind old skool...

it's like trying to show your great grandfather how to use the dvd player he got for Christmas....

as for performance upgrades: Cams are brought up a lot. i know the big guys (like comp cams) make 4.3l upgrade cams, but who else, and are there any users with them/reccomendations to peek into?
