is this exhaust screwing me up?
Bought a 91 s10 blazer,4.3 tbi.
I knew it had a "Performance exhaust" well i took a look at it. They cut off the cat and ran 2 1/2" pipe straight from the headers to some 20.00 knockoff flowmaster (shall i say its loud as hell?). Now is this going to render my performance(in a bad way)? Im not sure how picky the 4.3 is with back pressure etc. I have a flowmaster super 44 off a old truck in my garage and i was thinking about switchin em out.
Reason i asked is after 3rd gear it seems like it has a loss of power. Not wanting to take off (seems to be holding back some) compared to a friends stock 4.0 l6 jeep cherokee which beat me in a 0-60 run.
everything in the blazer is stock other then the exhaust.

Hey, Ive been reading this forum for a while now and finally just signed up now so im new here to posting. I have a 1989 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 with a Stock header, cat and a super 40 and it deffinitally helped in performance and sounded great!. My truck also falls on its face when getting into third gear. It feels like shifting from 1st to 3rd almost. I did have my truck straight piped with 2.25 pipe and i gained power and some mpgs but it sounded like a boat lol. The Super 40 kept it loud but lowered the tone alot. I dont think your looseing power at all I just think thats the way it is. Could be wrong but thats how my truck is and soon to find out how my blazer is. Well I just bought a 99 4 Door Blazer last wednesday and this weekend took the motor out due to a shot rod bearing, So im going to be dropping the new motor in this weekend hopefully and get the truck up to 100% percent and start some upgrades
