Question I dont know what to do

Over the winter my dad and I changed the gaskets well along the way stupid me ended up dropping the distributer which was wrapped up into a towel. Needless to say things just werent right since. After wards my truck wont shift correctly the RPMs will go up to about 2 before it starts skipping, and the readings are coming back at 6000 RPMS when im doing like 40 MPH. We have replaced lots of parts including the most recent which was a $300 distributer which we thought finally the problem would be fixed but its not. My brother thinks there is a ground wire or something wrong because he saw the same reaction in a BMW he was working on.

Someone save me from insanity I just want my baby to run right, is that too much to ask for?

ok, easy fix for yeah right here - swap in a carb'd 350 sbc! solved.

No - in all reality i would start with the ground and then work through the electrical. I have heard of grounds doing that but similar things happened to a friends dakota and it was chipmunks that had eaten up his wire harness a bit. So think good grounds and bad connections - those never hurt to check anyhow.

i just thought of this - check the engine timing! i had another 94 blazer 4wd with the 4.3L and it ran like a champ 90% of the time. but when it got cold and or rainy its like she told me who was in charge but not starting or even really turning over. not the same issues i know but the same conditions caused it to act up, and since you mentioned all the gasket work and so on - it wouldnt hurt to check.

If it seems to only happen when cold or rainy I would expect some kind of moisture problem.

What year and what kind of vehicle is this? Do you have any stored engine codes?
