Looking into complete motor rebuild/ performance upgrading.... HELP
I would do it. I bought a GM Remanufactored Long Block for about 1800, with core and installing myself. By the time I bought some tools and extra items it cost me close to 3000.00 the GM warrenty is for 60K. Is that price with them installing it? Sounds like a fair deal to me.
Sounds like a good deal man I'd go for it. Check refs and make sure they are professional and knowledgeable. Thats one reason why I purchased a used rebuilt 350, basic machine work here starts at $2000 alone. A new crate engine from GM is the same cost and cost with warranty and new parts.
I spoke with them at length today, and they invited me down to see their operation and learn about the rebuilding process which is cool. They seem really knowledgable and they actually warned me about other rebuilders that will try to rip you off on a core charge and "shop fees". At least they gave me a total quote, and i can get it in writing if need be. I think I may go for it, becuase my blazer is too clean to go to waste... plus even if i tried to sell it, i would start crying becuase its my baby...
Kyle any input???
Kyle any input???
i can tell you what my machine shop costs were on my block. i took in a bare block (virgin) 327 (its a 67 block so its a small journal)and the crank. to get it bored out 30 hot tanked, magnafluxed, deck surfaced it didnt need aligned bored so that saved me some money but the crank was turned down 10/10. all said and done i have over $400 in machine work.
Wow after i read this i relised how lucky i got on my engine swap.. about 400 dollars for the engine (just rebuilt and put into a junker truck, we actually bought the whole truck for 500 and then scraped it for 300) and the parts to do the swap and we did it ourselves so we saved allot but i also learned allot about it. we didnt upgrade it or anything bc at the time our money was tight but i wish it wasnt lol
