Default Lt1 swap

I've been thinking on swapping an lt1 V8 into my S10 blazer. There's a lot of other stuff that would need upgraded or replaced first but how hard is it to swap? I don't if it's possible to "delete" the 4x4 to make it easier, I'd use a limited slip differential anyway. As far as the ECU, could I use one from a Vette? That might sound stupid, I have a limited understanding of how that works. Correct me if I'm wrong but the ECU has to match up with the engine or it won't run right.

It is definitely possible. My brother is running one in his S10 Crew Cab. You could delete the 4x4, or just get a swap oil pan that works with the 4x4. I think he got his from Mildon. You'll need someone to program the ECU for you with the accessories and things you need.

Google is your friend on this one, and I'd suggest you do TONS of research and note taking on this project. There have been a lot of people who have done V8 swaps in S-series trucks on various forums, and there's lots of different ways to do it. You probably want to be taking screen shots or copy-paste information because there have been some of the older forums go offline as they lose users. Sad to see some of that information go. If you know how to use the wayback machine you might be able to access some of it.

I have been browsing around here and the S10 forums. Found a company called current performance that makes a wire harness for the lt1 and ls swaps. After looking into it more I'll probably keep the 4x4 seems like more trouble to delete it anyway. Just about everything on my blazer needs replaced anyway due to rust. When I start taking stuff off I'll probably get at the frame with a wire wheel and then coat it with something.
