swap questions..
Im new here and i wanted all of your opinions
i have a 89' s-10 4.3L with a 6 inch lift kit and 38inch tires. Im almost done with my off-roading machine but the engine is a bit old and gaining mileage..approaching 155,000 =(
I kno there are alot of guys who swap out with 350's but what would be the best swap in your opinions...thanks guys and i cant wait to hear your responses.
also im on a bit of a budget..and im not really wanting to spend over 2600..so factor that in somehow.

RE: swap questions..
you can do a 350 TBI swap relatively cheap and easily. the accessories on the front of the motor are a direct swap from the 4.3 to the 5.7, you would need different motor mounts, and most likely electric fans instead of the clutch fan. Check out Jags That Run - Clicky click for the information, they wrote the book, literally, on the S-10 V8 swap.

RE: swap questions..
on that swap would it be the older say silverado late 90's models or the newer vortec 5.7's?

RE: swap questions..
ok im considering lots of different options...what would be more expensive tho out of an LTI and a TPI swap..well actually i kno tpi is cheaper but which is the better swap??

RE: swap questions..
the LT1 would be a great swap, but some of the accessories have to be LT1 and cant be the same as your 4.3 for space reasons. the LT-4 is another possiblity, but if youre on a budget, they simplest, easiest, cheapest would be a 1994 V8 w/ TBI, the 1995 and up are more complicated electrically. Your computer and harness will be the most similar with a 94. The JTR book isn't that expensive and it outlines all your possiblities and the pluses and minuses of each engine swap.
