need help with timing

Exclamation need help with timing

i have a 86 s10 blazer and does not hold timing. i've taken it to many mechanics they've messed with the distributor, calibrated my carburator, now my truck pings like crazy and over heats. can someone please help. thanx

Is the mechanical & vacuum advance working properly? Has any of the mechanics checked the pickup coil inside the distributor?

I have no idea. But I'll ask tonite. I also forgot to add that the blazer has a built 350 doing 400 hp.
