Power Programmer
I was just wondering about a programmer, i was looking into the hypertech max energy and called up tech support only to find out that the 98 tuning does not support regular octane, is there anything out there that does for the 98 blazer?

Sucks that they no longer offer the PowerProgrammer III. Look around the internet for somebody selling an unlocked one for your model year engine.
#3
yea i was talking to the guy about that one, and he said even that one didnt support regular gas for that year either. i was confused by it all, all programmers should allow for gas of your choosing. <-- in my dreams lol. basically the max energy is just a internet capable power programmer 3, is what he told me.

Why dont you look into a custom/mail order tune. You will receive much better gains.
#5
Definitely better gains. Should be right around $200 for a mail order tune from wait4me or PCMforLess.
#6
Yep custom tune is best, They don't call em Hypercrap tuners for nothing.

I hooked one up to my 2002 and I love it. Sure, a custom or mail order tune would've been better, but I got this on eBay for under $100. First tank of gas I got 17.2 mpg. Bone stock I was getting 15.3 mpg. Thats on 93 tuning, so even in spite of the extra money at the pump for premium, this thing will pay for itself eventually. Granted I keep my RPMs at/under 2500 in 1st (for acceleration purposes), and at/under 2000 for all other gears.

I also have the PP3, and I'm satisfied with it. Seeing as my truck's about to roll over to 200K miles, I'm not paying for a PCM flash unless I'm swapping the engine or transmission. LOL

Programming...
So I have never done any mods at all to my 4.3L Vortec, and am interested in the computer chip deal. Where can I go to get the best information about this process, how much it costs, what mods I can do to the cpu, and how to do it yourself?
Thanx everyone for your help on this!
