Default Valve Covers

Would you be able to swap the valve covers on a 4.3 around so the one on the passenger side is on the driver side and the one on the driver side is on the passenger side? Or does the place that you put oil in the motor have to be on one specific side. I was thinking of this because a friend wants to buy my old motor to rebuild and put in his truck and the place to put oil in is on the opposite side compared to the motor in his truck. But his truck is a 1996 with a 4.3 also. (same as my old motor) It doesn't matter if you put oil in the driver or passenger side of the motor, does it?

It really doesn't matter at all. You'd just have to make sure that the PCV valve tube fits correctly and may have to modify (make it longer or shorter). Other than that, there is nothing that should prohibit the side to side swap of the valve covers so long as they bolt up.

There is probable a hole in each valve cover besides the one for the oil. Make sure you swap the grommets as well. You should be able to buy new grommets from the HELP section of your favorite autoparts store for less then $2 each.
