Default Vortech heads on a 1st Gen 4.3?

What's involved? I've been told that the heads can be picked up cheap at the bone yard and will add 40 horse. true? electronics the same or different? Would like to give it a shot if it's not too involved.

im pretty sure the heads are direct bolt on but your gen 1 intake wont work with the vortec heads but i think edlebrock makes a intake you can slap a carb on that will match the heads

^^ what he said. and that intake is 300 bucks. If i were you,id go to a pull a part and get a WHOLE 5.7 350 in the same year as yours for 300 bucks, and do a v8 swap. if you have a 2wd,its easy as cake. wirings the same, trans mounts up. you just need swap mounts and efans.
