What's involved? I've been told that the heads can be picked up cheap at the bone yard and will add 40 horse. true? electronics the same or different? Would like to give it a shot if it's not too involved.

 

im pretty sure the heads are direct bolt on but your gen 1 intake wont work with the vortec heads but i think edlebrock makes a intake you can slap a carb on that will match the heads

 

^^ what he said. and that intake is 300 bucks. If i were you,id go to a pull a part and get a WHOLE 5.7 350 in the same year as yours for 300 bucks,and do a v8 swap. if you have a 2wd,its easy as cake. wirings the same,trans mounts up. you just need swap mounts and efans.
