01 Blazer 4.3 Vortec Oil Filter seal Popping and Leaking Oil
#11
What can I say other than I guessed another one right? It was an educated guess though It's actually quite surprising that the rubber flex line between the adapter and the filter didn't blow before the filter did! Glad you got her fixed. Thanks for posting back, and for the kind words

I know this is an old thread but is giving me an idea on my problem. My oil gauge has been pegged at 80psi for about 400 miles. Figured it was a bad sending unit or gauge or both. Remote oil filter was leaking for previous owner. I will check hoses for blockage, then somehow check and/or replace that relief valve.

"The man drove this Blazer for almost five straight years without any tune ups, barely any oil changes"
This might have something to do with it The oil pressure releif valve is in the engine block. The oil filter adapter at the left rear of the engine must be removed to access it. The valve just pulls out and the new one gets staked in. GM dealer has them, (cheap) and you'll need a gasket set, (under $10).
