1991 chevy s10 not going into park

Default 1991 chevy s10 not going into park

i have a 91 blazer and it wont go into park.....i say its because the linkage is off but my friends dad said it could be the fork in the tranny that puts it in park or something like that.....well i need help on fixing it because im tired of putting my 4 way under my tire every time i have to park...please help man....peace..love...and blazer power!..also i cant find anyone with the same year and same problem i already searched other threads

ok, does it "go" into park but not stay still or will it not physically move onto park. If it clicks into park but not stay still its the park pin inside the trans. Fix your parking brake and get used to it

it says park but doesnt engage....and when i start it up it flys in reverse....so basically park and reverse is the same damn thing

Sounds like your linkage is off. Try adjusting it, see if that helps.

theres not really nothing to adjust on these earlier ones. Newer ones had cables,which would stretch. look at the linkage at where its mounted against the frame beside the trans. there should be a spring and a plastic spacer in that backet. sometimes they break and fall out. with this you can have loose floppy linkage down there and it can cause issues. Other then that there is not adjustment. All you can do is safely engage the brakes,drop the trannys pan and take a look at the bracket thing the linkage slides upon inside the trans. see if its worn down.
