Question 1994 S10 Blazer rough idle + other issues????

Hey guys,
First new thread post ever so please bear with me here...

I've got a 1994 s10 blazer that I purchased off the original owner with 45k, but ever since I've owned it, the thing will act up every few months. The blazer has given me problems before with the old egr, so I had a shop install a newer "screened" one, but now six months later it's acting up again. My fiancé was driving the vehicle last night, about 45 minutes away from home when it started. She said it stalled out immediately after getting off of the highway and then she had trouble keeping it running after that, so I had to have AAA flatbed it home (transaxle d'oh!) now before she left she got some fuel at a local B.P. Station and I think it might've had some water in it, so we put in a bit of dry gas and let it sit over night. This morning it started rough, and still stalled out, so I kept it running and took it around the block for a spin to see if it would clear out, it now is actually running quite a bit better, but still is going up and down in terms of idle, and still sorta feels like it wants to stall...my question to you is - could it be that the egr is clogged again? Is that possible to happen twice in less than a year? Again it is the screened model now, so I could take it out and clean it. I appreciate any help I could get and thoughts from seasoned guys I'm still a noob as far as diagnosis and some other things...but hey if you need me to wire your house- that's a different story hah!

Thanks again in advance hopefully I put this in the right place!

I forgot to add that I have already installed new plugs and wires and done a basic tune up as well...it did jump timing a few months ago for no apparent reason but I don't believe that to be what's happening here! I was told it may be the idle air control valve, but I'd like a few other thoughts on the subject.

Thanks again

And actually I have a similar issu with my 1995 Sonoma, but this truck has been pieced together by somebody else and looks like Dr. Frankensteins nightmare under the hood, and even the radio compartment has been hacked up...except this truck is a "z" vin engine...again thoughts appreciated! I'm stuck with two paper weights till then...don't want to do any permanent damage!

Ok update -

Got the E.G.R. Off, screen is starting to come off (how long do these usually last??) and there was a very small piece of carbon stuck in it (maybe two squares worth on the screen), re assembled everything and started the blazer...ran absolutely mint for 30-45 seconds and then started idling up & down and stalled out - and after it stalled I heard what sounded like the fuel pump kick on for a few seconds after the fact. Re started it a second time and it died after only 10/15 seconds, third time - ran with application of gas pedal but exhaust sounds pretty noisy and once I let off it died again....now what should I do next? Could this be fuel related? I do also have a small leak from where the brake master cylinder and booster bolt together - could this be a cause for a vacuum leak? Any help will be greatly appreciated as I'm totally unsure of my best bet first before having to send it to a real mechanic
