Red face 1995 blazer running issues

when i first got the blazer, you would need to use starting fluid to get it running when the motor was cold. after it was warmed up, it would start fine. even drove fine with no issues. i never checked anything, i just assumed it was the pump. so i bought one from advanced auto. put it in with a new strainer and filter. all was good for a couple hundred miles. till one day i was a mile away from home and it was starting to act up, would idle but not accelerate when pushing the pedal. it was below a quarter so i thought maybe it was running out of gas, gauge mite be wrong. so i went and got some gas and put 5 gallons in it to make sure. now nothing. cranks like hell. i can't hear the pump kicking on when the key is turned on. i spray starting fluid in it, it'll start and idle fine, but won't take any gas when you hit the pedal, cuts out and stall. i put a pressure gauge on it and it has about 50 lbs when idleing. stalls as soon as you hit the gas. when running, it's smooth with no apparent issues. the cat convertor however has always rattled since i got the truck.
