1995 oil pressure issues
Last fall I bought a 1995 Blazer 4.3L Vin W with the CPI for $1000 from a guy that lives 3 hours north of me. The ad said it only needed fuel injectors. I got to the guys house and the body was in very good condition, but it ran very rough. Drove it the three hours home, and learned very fast the 1995 are rather unique with a lot of how ther did things with these. Found a new fuel injector and "nut kit" a friend and I started diving into it and the further we got the more we found wrong. It looked like there was 3 gallons of stop leak poured in the cooling system, every gasket was pretty much gone. We ended up pulling the engine and found the flexplate center was completely broken out so I dont even know how it made the trip home. We rebuilt the engine all new gaskets, timing chain, sensors, you name it. My friend and I ended up dropping g it off at my cousins to finish the job because we couldnt get the engine to line up on the way back in the right way and he is a certified tech. He got it all back together and buttoned up, while running it for the first fluid check the oil pressure dropped out. When I bought the blazer the guy said the shortblock was out of a 2001 and the heads and intake were from a 1995. My question is, I see two different part numbers for the pickup tubes for the different model years. It does have a cast aluminum oil pan on it. I see the oil pump is the same for both years and I did replace it, but I think I bought a pickup tube for a 1995. Should I buy one for a 2001, since the shortblock is a 2001? I see I'll have to pull the front diff to get at it, my cousins already had the engine in and out three times so I dont think we'll be pulling it again.
